The first round of the Queensland Mountain Cross Super 2 Series took place over the weekend, on the new Illinbah Mountain Cross track, which will be holding Round 3 of the MTNX National Series in November.

Flash Point Promotions together with the Gold Coast Mountain Bike Club put together the new series due to the lack off MTNX racing in Queensland. The racing went off without a hitch. Spectators and riders alike were even given the chance to hear from Chris Kavarik about his recent World Cup tour and Champs.

In the Elite Men we saw the bow out of the favourite, Randal Huntington (For The Riders), in the Semi’s with a spectacular crash on the 2nd last straight. Taking away the honours and the $250 was BMX rider, Michael Young (DTK), followed by another BMX rider, Daniel Costillo (DTK), and in 3rd place, For The Riders owner Tim McCullough.

In the Under 19 Men we saw Tamryn Murrell taking away the win with ease, while the young Rhys Willemse (Intense Tyres, For The Riders) took the plunge and upgraded to Elite Men.

The final round of the series takes place on Sunday November 18th (please note changed date). Anaconda is providing all entrants with a race bag; including free multi tool, magazine & drink bottle. For The Riders will be providing prizes for all category’s, apart from Elite Men where prize money is up for grabs. Email sarsha@flashpointpromotions.com.au for more details.
