Just thought i would start it off with this:

Item:
07 Sram X-9 Shifters

Purchaced from:
The bike shed mortdale for $120 i think

Bike it is fitted to/type of riding it is used for:
My DH bike

Good:
Small and compact, Thumb shifting, Precise shifting

Bad:
The bit where the outer cable goes in can break easily.

Your oppinion:
A great shifter, i especally like the thumb only shifting, it is great for downhill. The quality of the shifter is great, no plastic here and the shifting quality is great. My only gripe with it is that i already have broken the little bit on the end that sticks out for the cable to go into, this is not that much of a major though because you can unscrew it, take the broken bit out and screw it back it. I wouldnt want to do it to many times though.
something you missed... is that the shifter can directly bolt onto some avid juicy's... 07 juicy 7's i think they can Smile
It is but you have to have juicys which i dont and you need to buy a thing called an avid matchmaker.
One bad part about the sram gears is the deraileurs bend wheely easy. As this happened to me yesterday
sean.... if your running one of those 'derallier lockon thingos' that hold the derrallier to ur bike then yes u will break deralliers... i perfer just snapping a hanger.. much better than a new derallier.. hangers are made to bend.. and break.,.. and explode.. .and yer Smile lol
I run an x-9 derralior to and i have never had any problems with the actual deralliour just a few broken hangers
yeah it is how you treat them. but because sram run at so much tension they are moderatly easier to bend.

alos does any one know the diffrence from the x-7 to the x- 9 i have heard they are very similiar.
i heard somewhere this year x7 is last years x9... this years x9 is last years x0 basically
oh ok awsome. me personally shimano all the way

Yes, thats correct. Current X7 is last years X9. X0 is X9 but with the addition of a carbon cage. Apparently there will be a new derailleur added to the mix, an X5 which will be the over stock of '06 X7s. Confusing but they are all good derailleurs.

SRAM have a different mechanism. The actual derailleur body doesnt pivot on the frame like Shimano's (from memory). Shimano have a very forgiving design. The large body is easily bent back into place (yeah, it probably wont work as well again but I may mean the differentce between walking home or riding) where as those arms featured on SRAM mechs would be easily damaged beyond repair.
You reap the benafits in running SRAM when your accelerating down a very rutted track...chainslapage!!!
