Intro
Coffs Harbour rocks. The town rocks, the beach rocks and the trails rock. Coffs Harbour is home to some of the best mountain bike trails in Australia. Basically because of quality of the terrain and the soil all the trails are very special. I have been to Coffs Harbour once and only scratched the surface of the trails Available
XC location: Wedding Bell State forest

A couple of hundred metres along Bucca Road, off the pacific highway there is a dirt car park across from the waste plant. This is the trail head of the Cross country loop. The loop start is the second singletrack entrance you see on the left. There is a bit of a log garden at the start of the course. From there the track flows through the bush. With few hills and open big ring corners you can get some serious speed along these tracks. When I was there some bunting and arrows were set up which showed the way around the tracks. Even without these you shouldn’t get lost. The first section of the track pops out at the dirt car park again. Keep spinning across to the other side of the car park and head down the fire road there. You will enter some more single track which flows along next to the highway for a bit before diving back into the rainforest. The flowy singletrack continues before you pump over a large log rollover and back to the start of the loop. When I was there the only other traffic I saw were a few motor bikers. The ones I encountered were great as they stopped and pulled over when they saw me. This loop is great and I saw heaps of other single tracks heading of into the bush so I’m sure there is more to offer in this area.
DH location: Mt Coramba

Jump back in your car after doing the cross country loop and its only a short scenic drive through banana farms to reach the Mt Coramba Down hill track. This track is by ar the best I have ever ridden. Once at the top of the Coramba road ( can be very slippery in the wet- why is it that all downhillers drive like they ride) You will see the start of the track.
Take a few pedals through the top clearing and drop down into the rock garden. Hit two large drops into some rocky singletrack ending in a short climb near the shuttle road. This is by far the hardest bit of the track and is a good test to see if you are ready for the whole track. From their head down steep singletrack into a large jump over a tree stump. Touch down 30 foot later and fold into two tight switchbacks. Get way back over the rollover and sprint round the berm. From there it is more flowy fast singletrack. There are plenty of berms and jumps and a couple of north shore ramps before you pedal down into a sweet tabletop near the shuttle road. Keep pinning along with more jumps and flow through the rainforest. The soft smooth soil gives loads of traction so you can hit most of the corners brakeless if you do them right. Speed, speed, speed as you come out onto the shuttle road for a few metres before sprinting up a short rise. Hang a left into more singletrack cross a fire road and you enter this sweet section with loads of drops into berms. Choose from two lines off a north shore structure and start pedalling hard through the flattest bit of the track. Jump and then roll down a north shore ramp, over a kicky double jump and you’re done.
Its hard to describe in words how flowy this track is- it has to be ridden.

the tree stump jump- kudos to pylet for the pic
Bike Shops
I was lucky enough to not need a bike shop while I was down there but Ventoux Cycles helped me out with finding the trails. I have also heard that Bob Wallis Cycles is a great bike store
Accommodation
I stayed at Emerald Beach Holiday Park( http://www.ebhp.com.au) which is right on the beach and only a few minutes from the riding places.
If you have any more information or pictures of Coffs harbour send them to mikey@wheel-world.net
I am aware that the whereis links dont work very well. If any one has a map they have permission to use that would be great.
